Mr Goel is 27 years older than her daughter Rekha . After 8 years she will be twice as old as Rekha
. Find their present ages.

Let Mr. Goel's age = x = 20.7 years old
Let his daughter's age = y = 6.3 years old
x + y = 27
x = 27 - y ----------- (1)
x + 8 = 2(y + 8)
x + 8 = 2y + 16
x - 2y = 16 - 8
x - 2y = 8 -----------(2)
Put (1) in (2)
27 - y - 2y = 8
27 - 3y = 8
- 3y = 8 - 27
- 3y = - 19
y = - 19 / - 3
y = 6.3 ----------(3)
Put (3) in (1)
x = 27 - 6.3
x = 20.7
