Mr Gover is three times as old as his son and the sum of their ages is 48. how old is each?​

Let the present age of his son=X years

therefore the present age of Mr gover=3X

now .. according to the problem.

 =  > x + 3x = 48 \\  =  > 4x = 48 \\  =  > x =  \frac{48}{4}  \\  =  > x = 12

therefore the present age of MR.Gover=3×12=36yrs

and of his son=12 years
