Mr. Govind goes to his office in a taxi which charges₹80for the first 4 km and ₹10per km thereafter. If the distance from home to office is 'x' and the total charge is 'y'.

write an equation to represent this situation in standard form ax + b y + c = 0
if x = 9 then find the corresponding Y value is____
if x = 16 then find the corresponding Y value is______
if x = 45 then find the corresponding Y value is_____

Answer:

x 0 1 2

y 3 8 13

Taxi fare for first kilometer = Rs. 8

Taxi fare for subsequent distance = Rs. 5

Total distance covered =x

Total fare =y

Since the fare for first kilometer = Rs.8

According to problem,

Fare for (x–1) kilometer = 5(x−1)

So, the total fare y=5(x−1)+8

⇒y=5(x−1)+8

⇒y=5x–5+8

⇒y=5x+3

Hence, y=5x+3 is the required linear equation.

Answer:

Given : The distance covered = x km

Total charge = ₹ y

Fare for first 4 kilometres = ₹ 80

Fare per km = ₹ 10

Fare for every subsequent distance = 10 ( x - 4 )

Total fare = Fare for first 4 km + subsequent distance × fare per km

=> 80 + 10 ( x - 4 ) = y

=> 80 + 10x - 40 = y

=> 10x + 40 = y

if x = 9 then find the corresponding Y value is____

p ( 9 ) = 10 ( 9 ) + 40 = y

=> 90 + 40 = y

=> y = 130

if x = 16 then find the corresponding Y value is______

p ( 16 ) = 10 ( 16 ) + 40 = y

=> 160 + 40 = y

=> y = 200

if x = 45 then find the corresponding Y value is_____

p ( 45 ) = 10 ( 45 ) + 40 = y

=> 450 + 40 = y

=> y = 490
