Step-by-step explanation:

Mr. Gupta had 15 2/5 litres

After reaching home he had 2 1/3 litres

= 15 2/5 - 2 1/3

15 2/5 = 77/5

2 1/3 = 7/3

= 77/5 - 7/3

so for that take LCM of 5 and 3

LCM of 5 and 3 is 15

77/5 × 3/3 = 231/15

7/3 × 5/5 = 35/15

= 231/15 - 35/15 = 196/15

the mixed form of 196/15 is 13 1/15

so Mr. Gupta had used 13 1/5 litres of petrol
