Mr. James’ class has a ratio of 2 boys to 3 girls.
Ms. Singh’s class has a ratio of 1 girl to 2 boys.
Both classes have 30 students.
How many boys and girls are in each class?

Let x be the common ratio.

2x + 3x = 30

5x = 30

x = 30/5 = 6

So Boys = 2×6 = 12 and girls = 3×6 = 18

Ms. Singh's class

Let x be the common ratio.

x + 2x = 30

3x = 30

x = 30/3 = 10

So Girls = 1x10 = 10 and boys = 2x10 = 20
