He loses 1.5 pounds a week.

Find:

The number line

Solution:

Find the number of weeks needed for him to achieve his targeted weight:

Pounds needed to lose = 224 - 190

Pounds needed to lose =34

Number of weeks needed = 34 ÷ 1.5

Number of weeks needed = 22.67 weeks

State the number line

Let x be the week that he was in

x < 22.67
