Mr. Kasam runs a small business of making earthen pots. He makes certain number of pots on daily basis. Production cost of each pot is rupees 40 more than 10 times total number of pots, he makes in one day. Let x be the total No. of pots per day

Given : Production cost of each pot in one day = 10x + 40
Production cost of all pots per day =₹ 600
Production cost of all pots per day= (10x + 40)x = 600

10x² + 40x - 600 = 0
10(x² +4x - 60) = 0
x² + 4x - 60 = 0
x² + 10x - 6x - 60 = 0
[ By Middle term splitting]
x(x + 10) - 6(x + 10) = 0
(x - 6)(x + 10) = 0
x - 6 = 0 or x+10= 0
x = 6 or x = -10

Total No. of pots can’t be negative, so x = 6
Total No. of pots per day = 6

Production cost per pot = 10x + 40
= 10(6) + 40 = 60 +40 = ₹ 100
Production cost per pot = ₹ 100

Hence, the production cost per pot per day = ₹100 & Total No. of pots per day = 6 .

Here is the answer

Let Kasam makes 'x' eathen pots per day .
Then the cost of each earthen pots is Rs.(10x + 40 )

From the given condition,

x(10x + 40) = 600

Therefore,

 \bf{10 {x}^{2}  + 40x - 600 = 0}

Dividing by 10 ,

 \bf{x {}^{2}  + 4x - 60 = 0}

 \bf{x {}^{2}  + 10x - 6x - 60 = 0}

x(x + 10) - 6(x + 10) = 0

(x - 6)(x + 10) = 0

x = -10 or x = 6

But the number of earthen pots cannot be negative.

So, x = -10 is not acceptable.

So,
x = 6

The cost of each earthen pots
= 10x + 40

= 10(6) + 40

= 60 + 40

= 100

Final answer

He makes 6 earthen pots per day and cost of each earthen pots is Rs. 100.

Thanks!
