Mr. Lamb was happy in spite of his disability as he was an experienced middle aged man with wisdom collected from his past life. He had seen many ups and downs in life and developed an insight as well as optimistic outlook on life. Though he was also handicapped, yet he had not allowed himself to be overcome by the adversities of life. He maintained an optimistic outlook. He loved life, people, and did not mind what people thought about him. He kept the gates of his house open so that anyone could come in. He had a considerable impact on Derry and motivated him to come out of his inferiority complex.
