it is said to be multiple cropping so that excreta of one crop used by other and other excreta used by first so that soil not errode readily and this helpsnto reduce the cost of manure and fertilizers .

Here is the answer.

As pea is a nitrogenous plant it helps in increasing the strength of the soil .

By planting same kind of plant in the same field again and again makes the crop yield decline over the period. So, planting different plants alternatively give soil to regain nutrients for crops like wheat.

And peas are very helpful in that .
