Given :- Mr. pankaj had some toffees in box A. If he sold one thrid toffees of box A at 2rupppes per toffee and the remaining tofees of box A at 3 rupees for 2 toffees and get a total of 500 ruppes then the total number of toffes in box A, is ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, the total number of toffes in box A are x .

then,

→ (1/3) of x sold at = Rs. 2 / toffee .

So,

→ total amount recieved = (x/3) * 2 = Rs.(2x/3) .

Now,

→ Left toffees in box A = x - (x/3) = (2x/3) toffees.

also,

→ SP of 2 toffees = Rs.3

→ SP of 1 toffee = (3/2)

→ SP of remaining (2x/3) toffees = (3/2) * (2x/3) = Rs x .

therefore,

→ (2x/3) + x = 500

→ (2x + 3x) / 3 = 500

→ (5x/3) = 500

→ 5x = 500 * 3

→ x = 100 * 3

x = 300 (Ans.)

Hence, the total number of toffes in box A are 300 .
