In this problem you have to perform 2 operations.

1. division

2. addition.

First we will perform the division to find the price of 1 object .

As we know, Mr. Rakesh bought 18 pens for

Rs. 450 , we have to find the cost of 1 pen so we will divide 450 by 18 ,to which we get the answer 25 , so the price of 1 pen is Rs.25

now we have to find the price of 1 calculator. to do that we divide the price of 12 calculators(Rs.4200) by the number of calculators (12) ,to which we get the answer 350 ,so the price of 1 calculator is Rs.350 .

As we have to calculate ,the combined price of pen and calculator , we will perform addition with the answers who from division. that will be :

Price of 1 pen = Rs.25

price of 1 calculator= Rs.350

Combined price of 1 pen and calculator= Rs.25+ Rs.350= Rs.375.

so ,the combined price of 1 pen and calculator is Rs.375

Given: Mr. Rakesh bought 18 pens for Rs. 450 and 12 calculators for Rs. 4200.

To find: The combined cost of 1 pen and I calculator.

Solution:

  • Since we need to find the combined cost of a pen and a calculator, we first find the cost of a single pen and a single calculaator seperately.
  • If 18 pens cost Rs. 450, one pen would cost,

       \frac{450}{18} = 25

  • If 12 calculators cost Rs. 4200, one calculator would cost,

       \frac{4200}{12} = 350

  • So, each pen costs Rs. 25 and each calculator costs Rs. 350, hence,

        25 + 350 = 375

Therefore, the combined cost of one pen and one calculator is Rs. 375.
