Express the amount bought in term of x:

Amount of potatoes bought = x kg

Amount of onion bought = (x - 3) kg

Express the cost in term of x:

Cost of potatoes = 12x

Cost of Onion = 14(x - 3)

Express the total cost in term of x:

Total cost = 12x + 14(x - 3)

Total cost = 12x + 14x - 42

Total cost = 26x - 42

Answer: The total expenditure is Rs (26x - 42)

here is answer

let the weight of potatoes be x

and onions be (x-3)

cost of potatoes =12*x=12x

cost of onions=14(x-3)

total cost= 12x+14(x-3)

12 x+14x-42

hence answer is

26x-4

hope it helps
