Mr Sinha wants to cover the floor of her kitchen with square tiles. The length and breadth of the kitchen is 10 and 4 metre respectively. The side of square tiles is 50 cm. Find the total number of tiles.

\bf\pink{AnsweR:-}

Given :-

Length of the floor = 10 metre

Breadth of the floor = 4 metre

Side of the square tile = 50 cm

To Find :-

The number of tiles required for the floor.

Solution :-

Length & Breadth of the floor is given as 10 m and 4 m respectively.

Each side of the square tile = 50 cm.

At first we need to convert both these measures to same unit.

As we know,

\huge{\color{\pink{\boxed{\bf{1\:metre=100\:cm}}}}}

So length of the floor = 10 m = 10 × 100 cm = 1,000 cm.

Breadth of the floor = 4 m = 4 × 100 cm = 400 cm.

Area of the floor

Next we need to find the area of the floor .

Area of the floor = Length × Breadth

⇒ Length × breadth = area of the floor

⇒ 1,000 × 400 = 4,00,000 cm ²

Area of the tile

Area of the tile ( square ) = side ²

⇒ Area of the tile = side × side

⇒ Area = 50 cm × 50 cm = 2,500 cm²

\longrightarrow\bf\green{No.\:of\:tiles\:required= \dfrac{Area\:of\floor}{Area\:of\:tile}

\longrightarrow\bf\red{No\:of\:tiles=\dfrac{4,00,000}{2,500}

\longrightarrow\bf\purple{No\:of\:tiles=160}

Hence, no. of tiles required = 160.

All done !!☺
