Mr. Stewart wants to cut a board that is 34 inches long into four pieces that are the same length. How long will each board be after he cuts them?

Given,

The total length of the board = 34 inches

Total number of pieces = 4

All the four pieces have equal lengths.

To find,

The length of each pieces.

Solution,

We can easily solve this mathematical problem by the normal arithmetic method, and with the help of the following mathematical formula.

Length of each pieces :

= Total length/Number of pieces

= 34/4

= 8.5 inches

(The division process is helpful here because each of the pieces have similar length.)

Hence, length of the each of pieces is 8.5 inches.
