Mr Tarun works in an MNC as a clerk. He was a staunch active and dynamic unionist. With his hard work and sincerity he rose to the position of supervisor. After becoming supervisor since his workload was increased ,he could barely take time out for union activities and gradually drifted away from it. Although he was promoted due to his sincerity, hardwork and steadfast in loyalty ;the union leaders for the reasons best known to them didn’t like the clerk’s promotion to the supervisory post. He had excellent interpersonal skills and managed to do his work very smoothly and satisfactorily. One fine morning, he called the peon and assigned him some work, but the peon refused to do the same. Exchange of heated arguments followed, other departmental people on hearing the high pitched conversation started gathering and at a certain point of time, the supervisor offensively gesticulated towards the peon. Everyone around, without knowing the issue, started accusing the supervisor for his offensive gesticulation. The whole department refused to work unless the supervisor apologized for this behavior and the trade union was also brought into the picture. What went wrong ? Analyze the situation in the case.
