(I) An operating system has three main functions: (1) manage the computer's resources, such as the central processing unit, memory, disk drives, and printers, (2) establish a user interface, and (3) execute and provide services for applications software.

(ii) Operating systems control the computer hardware and act as an interface with application programs. Utility software helps to manage, maintain and control computer resources. Examples of utility programs are antivirus software, backup software and disk tools.

(iii) A command line interface (CLI) is a text-based user interface (UI) used to view and manage computer files. Command line interfaces are also called command-line user interfaces, console user interfaces and character user interfaces.
