Mrs. Al Smith was an American woman who appears to be always in hurry.  Had she not been in such a hurry, she could have saved a huge amount of money She haphazardly enters the villa with a hope to buy it quickly, and in her haste makes many mistakes. She is an impatient woman who wants the possession of the things she likes at any cost. In her hurry, she mistakes Gaston for the owner's husband, and Gaston very cleverly seizes the opportunity of striking a profitable deal with her. Though she appears to be quite affluent, her common sense is quite poor. She is outsmarted by a French about whom she is so critical!
