Mrs Goel is 27 years older than her daughter Rekha. after 8 years she will be twice as old as Rekha.find their present ages

Let Rekha's age be 'x'.

Then, Mrs. Goel's age = x + 27



★ $\sf{8 \: years \: hence\: -}$


Rekha's age = x + 8

Mrs. Goel's age = x + 27 + 8 = x + 35



★ But, according to the question, after 8 years from now, Mrs. Goel's age will be twice that of Rekha

$\sf{=> x + 35 = 2(x + 8)}$

$\sf{=> x + 35 = 2x + 16}$

$\sf{=> 35 - 16 = 2x - x}$

$\sf{=> x = 19}$

Let the age of Rekha be $x$.

Then, Mrs Goel's age = $x + 27$

After 8 years,

Age of Rekha = $x + 8$

Age of Mrs Goel = $x + 27 + 8$

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ= $x + 35$

ATQ,

ㅤ(x + 35) = 2(x + 8)

$\implies$ x + 35 = 2x + 16

$\implies$ 36 - 16 = 2x - x

$\implies$ x = 19

$\therefore$ Present age of Rekha = 19

and present age of Mrs Goel = 19 + 27
