According to the question,

Their total present age

x+y=64.......(1)

Solve these two equations by elimination method.

On subtracting them,

4y=80

y = 20

Put this value in equation 1

x+y = 64

x+20= 64

x = 44

Therefore the age of Mrs. Lata is 44 and her son is 20.
