Mrs. Packletide was not a good shot. She aimed the tiger but shot the goat instead. Moreover, she could not know which of the two, the goat or the tiger, had died of the shot.

Though she was incompetent in shooting the tiger, but she successfully gained the popularity and defamed Loona Bimberton.
She was jealous to Loona Bimberton, that' s why she planned to gain attention by killing a tiger herself. But unfortunately, she shot a tiger. But fortune favoured her and she got to know that the tiger had been killed due to heart failure.

This made Mrs. Packletide a good shooter and this was her good shot.
