The narrator managed to transport the dog to the hospital in some way. The operating room was set up with a bed.

• Despite the dog's weakness, the surgery was successful. His recovery from the operation took two days. The next day, Tricki whined and made an effort to glance around. The dog wanted to go outside and play with the other hospital canines on the third day, which was quite fascinating to the doctor. The condition of the dog began to get better. The veterinarian saw Tricki begin to compete with other dogs over food. Mrs. Pumphrey was overjoyed when she heard the news. She reasoned that Tricki required energy food to recover more quickly and get healthier. She began delivering eggs to the veterinary clinic, but Tricki was not allowed to consume all of those foods by the doctor. Later, in order to enhance Tricki's blood flow Mrs. Pumphrey delivered wine bottles to her dog to enhance the blood. Each bottle was consumed by the doctor. Pumphrey even began sending the dog brandy.
