let average = x
total of 17 innings = 17x
total of 18 innings = 17x+102
Average after 18 innings = x+5

(17x+102)/18 = x+5
17x+102 = 18x +90
x = 12
Average after 18 innings = 12+5 = 17 Answer

After the 18th inning her average is 17 Runs.

Solution:

Let the innings run average scored be marked as X

Therefore, the run scored in 17 innings is 17X

Now the run scored after 17^{\mathrm{th}}  innings that is 18^{\mathrm{th}} innings is 17X + 102

Now the average after the 18^{\mathrm{th}} innings is X + 5

Therefore, the average of the 18^{\mathrm{th}} =\frac{\text {Runs scored in total } 18 \text { innings }}{\text { Number of innings }}=\frac{17 \mathrm{X}+102}{18}

X+5=\frac{17 \mathrm{X}+102}{18}

To find the value of X we get the average run scored by Ms. Goswami after 18th innings = X + 5 runs

X + 5 = 12 + 5 = 17 Runs
