Group I is not using the correct method to separate the given mixture of ethyl alcohol and water by using a separating funnel.(option - a)

  • ethyl alcohol completely dissolves in water as they both are liquids and dissolve each other, therefore, it's not possible to separate the two by using a separating funnel.
  • A separating funnel can be used to separate two liquids that do not dissolve each other. for example water and kerosene.
  • other options are correct as ammonium chloride is sublime and NaCl is not Hence sublimation used.
  • Similarly, decantation and sedimentation can also separate solids from water.
  • metal can be separated from the non-metallic substances, using magnets hence group 3 is also using the correct method.
