Ms Thomson is standing 15 m away from the church. The distance from his feet to the top of the church is 17,5m as shown below.calculate the height of the church.Use the theorem of Pythagoras I.e. r squad=xsquad + xsquad).

If we draw the system, we would see that it becomes a right angled triangle where;

hypotenuse = 175 m

Distance or base of the triangle = 15m

Height of the building = h

So, by Pythagoras theorem;

 {175}^{2}  -  {15}^{2}  \\  = 20625 - 225 \\  = 20400 \\  =  {h}^{2}

Hence,

h =  \sqrt{20400}  \\  = 14.83m
