Answer:

-39.5º

Step-by-step explanation:

Find the height:

/* The difference between the top and the base is the height  */

Height = 8850 - 5400 = 3450 m

Find the temperature at the top:

/* There is a drop of 1ºC every 100 m */

Number of 100 m = 3450 ÷ 100 = 34.5

Temperature dropped = 34.5 x (-1) = -34.5º

/* Given the base is at -5% */

Temperature at the top = -5 + (-34.5) = -39.5º

Answer: -39.5º

temperature \: drop \: from \: 5400m \: =  \: 1 \ \:  \\ degree \: per \: 100m \\ height \: of \: top \:  =  \: 8850m \\ temperature \: at \: the \: base \:  =  - 5 \: degree \\ height \: of \: top \: from \: base \:  = 8850 - 5400 \:  = 3450m \:  \\ total \: drop \: in \: temperature \:  = 3450 \div 100 = 34.5 \: degree \\ so \: temperature \: at \: the \: top \:   =  - 5 - 34.5 =  - 39.5 \: degree \: celcius

Hope this helps _☺️☺️_
