Mt. Everest, the highest elevation in Asia, is 29,028 feet above sea level. The Dead Sea, the lowest elevation, is 1,312 feet below sea level. Mauna Kea is an inactive volcano on the island of Hawaii. Only 13,795 feet of Mauna Kea stands above sea level, and below the sea level its having a depth of 19,685 feet.
a) What is the difference between the two elevations Mount Everest and Dead sea? b) Evaluate the actual height of Mauna Kea from below the sea level.
c) Compare the actual height of Mauna Kea with the height of Mount Everest and find which is taller and by how much?

a) Everest, the highest elevation in Asia, is 29,028 feet above sea level. The Dead Sea, the lowest elevation, is 1,312 feet below sea level.

b) The Hawaiian shield volcanoes are the largest mountains on Earth. Mauna Kea Volcano rises 13,796 feet (4,205 meters) above sea level but extends about 19,700 feet (6,000 meters) below sea level to meet the deep ocean floor.

c) Mauna Kea is over 10,000 meters tall compared to 8,848 meters for Mount Everest - making it the "world's tallest mountain."
