The greatest enemies of the Mughals were the Afghans, the Pashtuns and the Rajputs.

The Afghans and Pashtuns could be controlled as their territories were out of India. However, the Rajputs had annexed a large chunk of India - thus giving the notion that their Empire was powerful. Akbar initiated an alliance with them so as to bring stability into the Mughal Empire. Also, the economy would be balanced. Sudden raids by the Suris and the kingdoms of Bijapur and Golconda called for firepower and resources.
This almost exhausted the economy but thanks to Akbar’s ties with the Rajputs and their financial support.

These were the main points, I guess the rest of it you must’ve read in your history book.

Answer:

One of the greatest enimies of the mughals were Rajputs. Akbar knew that, to have a stable empire, he must controll the large territories under rajput kings in the neighbouring reigion of rajputna. Akbar married Jodha Bai, daughter of Raja Bihari Mal of Jaipur in 1562, Akbar displayed his secular policy towards hindus. Most Rajput Kings recognized his supremacy and later on helped Akbar in expanding and consolidating the Mughal.
