  • The introduction of the Subah administrative system brought in administrative reforms in Kashmir.  
  • Kashmir was the trade centre between India and Central Asia and during the Mughal rule, trade flourished with transportation of many goods between Central Asia and India.
  • Many Indian goods like the Brocade, Indian tea, silver and other jewelry, metal and wood works, leather and paper products and many more were exported through Kashmir.
  • The customs revenue also increased during this period due to increased trading. Exclusive silk products, lacquerware, woolen shawls saw a huge increase in production during the Mughal period.
  • Agriculture also flourished during this period yielding good revenue. With the Subah administrative system, the toll taxes and other oppressive taxes were abolished which boosted the trade routes through Kashmir.
  • The Mughals contributed to the Kashmiri architecture by making the valley more beautiful with lovely gardens and monuments.
  • The woodwork was more predominant in Kashmir and the Mughals introduced the stonework in Kashmir and constructed monuments like the Jamia Masjid, Khanqah Mualla, and Nagar Fort etc.
  • The Mughals were garden lovers and were always intrigued by the natural splendour of the state which led to the construction of the world famous Mughal gardens like the Shalimar Garden, Darshan Bagh, Nishat Bagh etc. Each of the gardens was unique in its own style and beauty.
