Ghazni invaded India and destroyed many Hindu temples.  He destroyed the famous Somnath temple in Kathiawar in 1024 - 1025 A.D.  He killed around 50 thousand persons too.  He destroyed the lingam personnaly himself.

He wanted Hindus to get converted into Muslims.
