''MULTICELLULAR ORGANISMS SHOW DIVISION OF LABOUR''

  • Multicellular organisms are composed of millions and trillions of cells and each of these cells performs certain functions. All the cells that are laboured or toiled for executing identical functions are grouped as tissues in the body. Thus, a specific function is carried out by a group of cells at a substantial place in the body. Furthermore, various functions are also executed by various groups of cells in an organism. Hence, This is called the division of labour in multicellular organisms.

  • For example, any cell of a multicellular organism will not be able to get food from outside. The body requires a mechanism for the creation, processing and delivery of food. The digestive system and transport system are then also required. Therefore, the tissues are dependable for nourishing and transport. Likewise, muscles are used for excretion, respiration, and other internal processes of a multicellular organism. Also, specific cells of the body are appropriate for the purpose of reproduction.
