Asexual reproduction of Plasmodium occurs in man. It is type of multiple fission and termed as schizogony. It begins when female anopheles bites the primary host man an inject sporozoites. These sporozoites undergo schizogony in mesodermal tissue, reticuloendothelial cells of liver, spleen, bone marrow and endothelial cells of capillaries to produce merozoites. Erythrocytic schizogony takes place in red blood cells. Here sporozoites undergo multiple fission at fixed interval of time and produce merozoites and gametocytes.
