for multiplying two polynomials...steps are

Each term of first polynomial is multiplied by each term of second polynomial.

Remember when you multiply two terms together you must multiply the cofficients and add the exponents.

Then combine the like terms.

(3/4a^2 *4*a^2) +

( 3/4 a^2 *4*-2/3b^2)+

(3b^2 * 4* a^2)+

(3b^2* 4* -2/3b^2)

= 3a^4 - a^2*b^2 + 12a^2*b^2 - 4b^4

= 3a^4 + 11 a^2*b^2 - 4b^4
