Question :-

Multiply ( 3x - y ) by ( x + y ) and verify the result for x = 1 and y = ( -2).

Answer :-

3x(x + y) - y(x + y) \\ \rightarrow3x \times 2 + 3xy - xy - y \times 2 \\

 \rightarrow3x \times 2 + 2xy - y \times 2

Verification by applying x = 1 and y = (-2)

 \rightarrow3(1) \times 2 + 2(1)( - 2) - ( - 2) \times 2

 \rightarrow3 + ( - 2) + 4

 \rightarrow3 + 2 \\ \rightarrow5
