Given polynomials → (2x - 3) (4x² + 5)

\\

Procedure:

Here, there are 2 expressions.

  1. (2x - 3)
  2. (4x² + 5)

\\

For Multiplying the polynomial, Multiply the first term in first expression with the entire second term and then the second term in first expression again with the second expression.

\\

Step-by-step explanation:

(2x - 3) (4x² + 5)

= 2x (4x² + 5) - 3 (4x² + 5)

= [2x (4x²) + 2x (5)] + [- 3 (4x²) - 3 (5)]

\\

Now

  • 2x (4x²) = 8x³
  • 2x (5) = 10x
  • -3 (4x²) = -12x²
  • -3 (5) = -15

Combining all of them;

= 8x³ + 10x - 12x² - 15

\\

Rearrange the terms as per the decreasing order of their powers.

So,

→ 8x³ - 12x² + 10x - 15

\\

(2x - 3) (4x² + 5) = 8x³ - 12x² + 10x - 15
