Dams have several demerits like: -

1. The local people of the area where dams are set up have to migrate from one placd to another because uts construction vast procedure which needs a lot of space .


2. The natural flow of the river on which the dam is being built gets disturbed because it becomes a barrier in its flow , once heavy rainfall occurs and the amount of water in the river increases, its can cause floods in the nearby areas.


3. The nutrients of the soil coming along with the water of the river decreases as most of the nutrition content settles on the sides of dams , thus the agricultural areas nearby which are completely dependent on the river for irrigation suffer a lot .

Disadvantages of MPP:-

♀●The dams were built to stop the flood.But ironically it creates flood at times.

♂●It distrupts the natural flow of water.This affects the aquatic organisms.

♀●It submerges the land.It distrupts the life of people such as tribals.

♂●It creates water disputes among states.
