we know that india is a fedral country means it power is divided among different levels and organs of government .

so the whole country is governed by Central Government for states we have State Government and for the cities and town the power is given to the muncipal corporation.

So it is a type of local government , also known as nagar palika and Nagar sabha.

it help in providing various necessary community services like health care , educational institution , housing ,sanitation etc.

The Municipal Corporation consists of a committee which includes a Mayor with Councillors. The Corporations provide necessary community services to the Metropolitan Cities and are formed under the Corporation Act of 1835 of Panchayati Raj system. The Mayor heads the Municipal Corporation.
