3. The dimensions of a rectangular plot of land are
28.3 m by 53.7 m. Find
by the perimeter of the land, correct to the nearest
10 m,
(ii) the area of grass needed to fill up the entire
plot of land, correct to the nearest 100 m.​

Answer:

l = 28.3 m

b = 53.7 m

(i) Perimeter = 2(l+b) (peri. of rectangle = 2(l+b))

= 2(28.3+53.7)

=2(82) = 164 m = 160 m approx.(Correct to nearest 10 m)

(ii) Area of grass = area of rectangular plot

Area of plot = l*b (area of rectangle = l*b)

= 28.3 * 53.7

= 1,519.71

=  1500 mˆ2 approx (correct to nearest 100 m)
