The nutrient deficient is nitrogen. Continuous growth of crops resulted in the deficiency of nitrogen. So, in order to let it fixed with nitrogen, they recommended to grow peas. As peas is a leguminous plant, bacteria which fix nitrogen, that is Rhizombium will take shelter under leguminous plants and since the bacteria will help in nitrogen fixation.
