Basic Concept Used :-

Writing Systems of Linear Equation from Word Problem.

1. Understand the problem.

  • Understand all the words used in stating the problem.

  • Understand what you are asked to find.

2. Translate the problem to an equation.

  • Assign a variable (or variables) to represent the unknown.

  • Clearly state what the variable represents.

3. Carry out the plan and solve the problem.

Let's solve the problem now!!

Let total value of property be Rs x.

According to statement,

\rm :\longmapsto\:Son \: share = \dfrac{x}{3}

\rm :\longmapsto\:Daughter \: share = \dfrac{x}{4}

Hence,

\rm :\longmapsto\:Wife \: share = x - \dfrac{x}{3}  - \dfrac{x}{4} = \dfrac{12x - 4x - 3x}{12}

\bf\implies \:Wife \: share = \dfrac{5x}{12}

According to statement,

  • Wife share = Rs 40000

\bf\implies \:Wife \: share = \dfrac{5x}{12}  = 40000

\rm :\implies\:\purple{\boxed{ \bf \: x = 96000}}

Hence,

  • Total value of property = Rs 96000
