Answer:

I am going to turn 25 this December and I am unemployed (from 2 years). I wanted to crack Engineering services and join railways. I gave my ‘everything’. If I had to quantize it , I studied for around 14–15 hours per day for 5 months.

A week before my exam, my loved one broke off with me. In fact, she hooked with an another guy and told me after few months. In addition to that she compared between me and him.

I wanted to terminate my life. I felt cheated and used. I loved ‘whole heatedly’. I was sincere and devoted to her. I ‘gave up’ everything for her.

Meanwhile I was trying for defence services. I went on to the final round and got rejected. I cried in front of my fellow candidates at night. I was completely demoralized.

This went on for two months.

I cried all day and night for months. Might get a Guinness for that !

My ‘good’ friends advised me to forget about her. It wasn’t so easy. At the same time I kept giving exams but didn’t find any luck.

My relatives kept brainwashing me and my parents. I was painted as a ‘looser’.

I lost HOPE.

After nearly being unemployed for around 1.5 years, I desperately attended all exams and hoping to get atleast in one.

From last 6 months, my luck played its own part. I missed every exam with a short margin.

Getting through SSB but medically unfit.

NPCIL (EE) : 186 obtained, 193 Cutoff

Engg.Services : Cleared Obj-1,2, Conv-1, but not Conv-2

SBI PO : 40 Obtained, 47.5 Cutoff

GATE (EE) : 4.5K . (Had to get under 1K)

These are few to mention.

I went through severe mental stress after quitting my job. I made few observations and could finally get my confidence back. I can understand how you might feel now.

Till now I have shared a part of my life in brief. From here I would like to give some tips which has worked out for me. Will categorize it in two parts :

Personality fortification

To be an IAS aspirant

I. Personality fortification:

This part of my answer is for ‘being failed phase of your life.

The most important and the most under-rated quality is mental fortitude.

When you are out to chase for what you wanted to be, you need to gather your courage and walk through all walks of life. You will be hit hard and be pulled back again and again. You just have to make up your mind and get through it.

It is easy for anyone to say this, but its hard to get through it. Even I failed a lot. Many have failed. Failing is not bad at all ! Doing nothing but to see yourself failing is wrong !

As many have given so many examples where poor, average, below average students have done wonders. It is a statement for anything can be done* !

But there is a ‘*Conditions Apply’ tailed to it !

You have to understand that following/repeating their pattern of studying (OR) their lifestyle doesn’t guarantee you to succeed . Period !

Your life is your own. It is unique. Here comes my first suggestion.
