My apologies for having posted an incomplete question; so I'll have another go at it. Here is the problem, which has several variations, and which has been answered previously, and as such, I have the solution. What I am asking for is a step by step mathematical solution, using simultaneous equations, and any other reasoning used. Here is the question; please excuse me for being pedantic: In an extended family, there are 20 people who share a total of 20 rotis. Each man eats 4 rotis, each woman eats 1/2 roti and each child eats 1/4 roti (Yeah, it sucks how these male chauvinist pigs deprive their women and children [my contribution]). How many men, how many women and how many children (numbers of each) comprising this family shared the 20 rotis? Each man, woman and child had at least part of a roti, with all of the rotis being consumed (no leftover). It would be nice if the platform gave me a chance to edit any post. Thanks
