My daughter and I went to Ruby Falls in Tennessee. It is an underground waterfall. The fall is 1120 feet below ground level. As we were descending, we used an elevator that had 8 stops that were equally separated. How far below ground level were we after the first stop?

Answer:

Answer should be 140 (Being 1120/8)

As elevator stops divide whole distance of 1120 metres in 8 equal parts, each parts will be separated by 140 metres.

So after first stop, you will be below ground level by 140 metres.
