Essay on “My Town”

My town is not a town- it is a city. I identify with Kochi as I belong there but more to Secunderabad as I have spent a long time here and hope to make it my destination eventually. My childhood has been nomadic as has my adult life and honestly, I have taken to every place like a fish to water !

Secunderabad, the twin city of Hyderabad, separated by the man-made Hussain Sagar Lake. is a very lively and warm city. Home to the largest cantonment of India, Secunderabad was founded in the eighteenth century by the British Raj. Complete in itself, this city offers something to every age group, to every budget and to every mood. It is my belief that I live in the best part of Secunderabad as it is close to the cantonment, which makes it cleaner and greener and yet it is within reasonable distance from the happening town and its hustle — bustle. I saw this place first when I was in college and then when I started my career. It was a quieter city then, with narrower roads. The people have always been civil here though the traffic is terrible.

Today, Secunderabad is as much of a hit as it was fifteen years ago with all alike. With its chain of restaurants, amusement parks, malls and theatres its appeal is more modem but the warmth still exists. The roads arc broader and the city is cleaner and very much on the move.

My town

One of the most amazing places on earth is my town.My parents being enthuastic travellers have taken me on a trip to many countries around the globe ...but believe me there's no good place other than our own sweet home.I live in kolkata ...the city of joy.And as the name suggests it the most glorious and happy place on earth..not in terms of excellent cleanliness though.

However there are some remarkably beautiful sites here.At night the whole city look like nyc and in the morning it's better than Greece. The immense crowd and popularity here is the reason for the overpowering markets. Here exists the world's biggest flower market amend the most number of mall any indian states posses .The streets are preoccupied with street hawkers and the blend of Indian and western cultures and their contrast can be related here. This place actually depicts westernisation in India. .it all started with Robert Clive.

There's are many old fashioned kingly bungalows here and who can forget shantiniketan

the place where rabindranath tagore was born..and satyajit Roy. .the only Oscars winning indian.Kolkata is the house of all festivities ..everyday is a celebration here our favourite deity is maa durga and maa kali whose puja is recently arriving next month and is going to last almost forever.Starting from Hindu to all religious festivals are celebrated here.

The most beautiful Victoria memorial and howrah bridge is the epithet of fascination in Indian history. We still can trums here (trains which work on city streets) and the hospitality of people her is bound to be appreciated. Bengali is our mother tongue apart from that hindi english and urdu is widely spoken here. This is not only the city of joy ..but also the city of festivals, love and lights. I love my my town city and home more than any place on earth.
