DIRECT SPEECH : My father said,"bring a glass of water" .

INDIRECT SPEECH : My father asked me to bring a glass of water.

Here the sentence in inverted commas is an imperative sentence and more precisely it's a request by father to his son for bringing a glass of water to him.

"Said" is a reporting verb that will be converted into "asked/requested that" as it's the rule for changing direct speech into indirect speech for the imperative sentences according to the form of sentences. And  "bring a glass of water" is an imperative sentence which will remain the same as it is an request.
