Answer:

Diwali also called “Deepawali” is a major Hindu festival of India. The festival is celebrated with unequal zeal and pleasure by Hindus, throughout the country. It is celebrated to commemorate the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after an exile of 12 years. Rama is a very popular Hindu deity who is revered for his truthfulness and purity.

Hindus believe that his return was welcomed by the people of Ayodhya by lighting up the streets and houses by small earthen oil lamps; therefore, the Hindus celebrate the day as the festival of lights. Houses decorated with lights of different colours and sizes, earthen lamps glittering at the entrances and over the boundaries and railings make the view mesmerizing. People come out of their houses in new clothes and burn crackers and fireworks.

Answer:

My favorite festival is Diwali. Every year, for Diwali, go to grandmother's house in Pune. My cousins from Nagpur join us there. Grandma and grandpa and old college with a garden around it.

Grandma prepares plenty of Diwali sweets for us. They are ready even before we reach Pune. Grandpa buys us lots of fireworks. We share our fireworks with the children of the farmers who live nearby. We do not burst firecrackers that make too much noise. Grandpa always say that Diwali is a festival of light, and not noise.

During the Diwali week, my cousin Sayli and I get up early morning and help grandma to draw the rangoli. In the evening it is our job to light the diyas and we love doing it. We also wear new clothes and eat and play a lot. It is because of all these reasons that Diwali is my favourite festival.

Hope it helps you :)
