Durga Puja is a major festival of Hinduism. It is traditionally celebrated for ten days. According to the Hindu calendar, it occurs in the month of Ashvina (September–October). It is particularly celebrated in Assam, Bengal, and more eastern states of India. Moreover, Durga Puja rejoices the victory of the Hindu goddess Durga over the devilish king- Mahishasura. It is celebrated very pompously and with great spirit. People visit each others houses in the society and even travel from abroad just to witness the enthusiasm of the festival. It is my favorite festival because it denotes the victory of good over bad. I keep waiting for this festival to arrive every year also because of the multiple cuisines and sweets it involves while the celebration.
