I would definitely go with planes and cars.
Airplanes are an excellent way to travel but my practice when I travel with my parents is to explore the country that we are visiting. So we rent a car (like in Spain and Italy) and just drive around, visit different cities and places.
I love traveling by car because it gives you a chance to see a lot in the country you are visiting. For example, we traveled to Italy by car and exploring Tuscany with a car was amazing - the area was wonderful and we had a great chance to see a lot of places and I can safely say that Tuscany looks wonderful. It’s definitely worth renting a car/traveling by car and exploring the area. The same goes for Spain - on our way to Malaga from Madrid we saw various things and passed various places. Not to mention how that gave us a chance to explore Andalucia and visit 5 cities in it.
Overall, I like traveling by car because it gives me the opportunity to explore the country or rent a car if I have to travel by a plane first but overall, it’s my favourite way to travel so far.
