Explanation:

I was in your friend’s situation once. I had a relative who was in desperate need of a job and she was probably qualified to do the job that my company posted. The problem was, my company had a really tight team. It was finely tuned and humming along very effectively and efficiently. We all relied on each other a lot and our personalities meshed perfectly. Even though my relative could probably have done the job competently, I knew enough about her personal life to know that she would likely have been unreliable. If we are all counting on one another and each team member is operating at 110% capacity, having a team member frequently call in late or absent because of car trouble or personal issues can totally wreck the team and the small company. I just could not risk my team that way. That does not even take into account the potential hit to my reputation for nepotism. There just not was enough upside potential for me to put my relative forward for the job.

Answer:

Should I be upset with my friend who didn't help me get a job with him, but helped another friend to do the same? We have been friends for longer, I was in a more dire situation, I have more applicable experience, he didn't tell me about the other.
