Exactly how it should have been.
Full of laughter, antics, alcohol, friend-making, studying, achieving.
And above all, learning. Not just about physics and mathematics, but about people. What it means to live away from home. How to swim rather than sink.
It wasn’t all good, though.
I had a nasty period of depression that I didn’t really come out of until Christmas. I think this was a mixture of an unfamiliar environment, and being away from the people I loved.
But, even in that horrible, distressing mess, I learned about myself. I worked out what I needed to do to get out of it.
So, it was a learned year.
Which is what university is for, right?
