His works Trente and de Paris’ and ‘Souvenirs dun home de letters’ seemed to be more like autobiographies. Passed away in the final decade, his name is very popular amongst the citizens of France. Answer:

The problem of illiteracy and backwardness still plagues our country. Literacy is the ability to read, write and comprehend information to communicate effectively. However, India's literacy rate rests at a mere 74.04%. This is a serious problem.

Many children remain illiterate due to external factors such as economic disparities, gender discrimination and technological barriers. The attitude of parents also influences the situation. If they don't put an importance on education, a child is less likely to do so. We see this happening in the chapter "The Last Lesson".

Illiteracy can be tackled by introducing reforms in the education system such as Inclusive Education (RTE Act 2209) and increased investment in government schools. Overcoming regressive social norms can also help improve female illiteracy.

Literacy serves as a foundation for social conventions and problem solving skills. It is empowering and serves social development. Without adequate reforms by the government, the poor are at a risk of remaining trapped in the vicious cycle of illiteracy, which in turn affects the social and economic development of India.
